Serious About God::: Devotional

Day 6: Holy Spirit

Without the presence of the Holy Spirit here on earth, there would be total chaos. He is the manifest presence of God on earth. Jesus, when He knew He would be departing this world, promised to ask the Father to send us a Counselor who would be with us forever, to teach and guide:

But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you (John 14:26 KJV).

‘No matter how you receive Jesus’ gift of the baptism in the Holy Spirit, remember it is a gift received by faith. Beyond salvation, it is a vital experience of a Christian, as it is the initial introduction into the beauty and power of a Spirit-filled life. This infilling of the Holy Spirit empowers you in your salvation.’

‘Too often, a Christian will think that he or she has attained all that’s needed for battle and march out, only to feel weak and inadequate for the task. Always remember, once a soldier’s armor and weapons are obtained, they must be forever cared for and ‘maintained.’ Similarly, you must always be filled. Never allow sin or compromise to dam up the flow of the Holy Spirit in you…and through you.’

‘Keep in mind, you receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you – power to overcome, and power to witness.’
