Welcome to the Workshop

No matter what kind of novelist you are, you have something in common with well over 200,000 people around the world: You are here to write. You have a story to tell, and you’ve claimed November as your noveling workshop.

Good for you! You can’t hear us, but there’s an office full of NaNo-staff, 600 volunteer MLs around the world, and dozens of contractors and interns and NaNo-supporters applauding your intrepid spirit and commitment to your creativity.

In addition to donning your tool belt, and posting the “See You in December” sign on your workshop door, we suggest the following steps to help you on your noveling way:

Check your NaNoMail often! It will be frequently filled with messages from regional volunteer Municipal Liaisons (MLs) and fellow writers (Wrimos), as well as pep talks from staff and published authors. You can also set your notification preferences to receive daily digests of your NaNoMail messages andforums threads you are following.

Join a home region, if you haven’t already. You’ll get encouragement from your local ML(s), have access to a regional forum full of writers in your area, and have the opportunity to attend in-person writing events in and around your neighborhood!

Believe it or not, if you donate just $5.00, your chances of winning skyrockets. Statistically, participants who contribute to our nonprofit writing event are more likely to reach the 50,000 word goal by month’s end. It’s a win-win!

Like our Facebook pagefollow our Twitter feed, and read our daily blog posts. The more engaged you are with what is happening in NaNoLand, the more invested you’ll be in finishing your novel. When the going gets tough, the tough keep in touch! (Isn’t that how the saying goes?)

If you have a question or need help, please read our FAQs thoroughly before emailing. One person answers the emails of literally all 250,000-plus participants, so we aren’t able to reply if your question is covered in the Help section.

And if you see something that looks wrong or broken, visit the Tech Help and Site Bug Reports forum to see if it’s a known issue. You could be the first to report it!

OK. Now grab that tack hammer, your pen, and a power cord, and let’s get writing!
